Fourth Sunday in Advent.
1 |
Raise up, O Lord, Thy mighty power; shield us in fierce temptation’s hour; when storm and tempest round us low’r, the graces of Thy Spirit show’r, Thou Lord of life and love! |
2 |
Hindered, let, and sorely shaken, in the race we’ve undertaken, seem we of our hope forsaken; from this state our souls awaken, Thou Lord of life and love! |
3 |
O Lord, show forth Thy power and might; the dawn is near, let it be light; Thou com’st to bless our longing sight; teach us to use Thy grace aright, Thou Lord of life and love! |
4 |
Delay not, Lord; O haste to rise with help to cheer our watching eyes; hear, Lord, O hear Thy people’s sighs, for Him who all the world shall prize, the Lord of life and love! |
5 |
Our satisfaction, God the Son: for us salvation Thou hast won, to Thee all rev’rence due be done, with Father, Spirit, Three in One, now, and for evermore. |

Tune | Somerleyton Joseph Barnby (1838-1896) |
O Lord, raise up, we pray thee, thy power, and come among us, and with great might succour us; that whereas, through our sin and wickedness, we are sore let and hindered in running the race that is set before us, thy bountiful grace and mercy may speedily help and deliver us; through the satisfaction of thy Son our Lord, to whom with thee and the Holy Ghost be honour and glory, world without end. Amen.
