The sixth Sunday after the Epiphany.
1 |
O God, Whose everblessed Son was manifested to the world, that counsels of the evil one by Christ might be to ruin hurled: |
2 |
And by His wondrous advent we should gain the gift of Heavenly life, the Sons of God should called be, and armed to wage the sacred strife. |
3 |
Having this hope so sealed sure with God’s own promises of grace, O sanctify us; make us pure, meet through Christ’s blood to see His face. |
4 |
That when again He comes in might, in heavenly glory to appear, we stand approved in His sight, by Him entitled to draw near. |
5 |
Thus may we glorious entrance gain through the belov’d eternal Son, where Father, Spirit, aye doth reign, most mighty, holy, Three in One. |

Tune | Verbum supernum prodiens plainsong, Mode 8, 13th cent. |
O God, whose blessed Son was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil, and make us the sons of God, and heirs of eternal life; grant us, we beseech thee, that, having this hope, we may purify ourselves, even as he is pure; that, when he shall appear again with power and great glory, we may be made like unto him in his eternal and glorious kingdom; where with thee, O Father, and thee, O Holy Ghost, he liveth and reigneth, ever one God, world without end. Amen.
