Collect after the Offertory. (VI)
1 |
Almighty God, we humbly claim the promise Thou hast giv’n, that all who ask in Thy Son’s name shall freely be forgiv’n. |
2 |
Our prayers and supplications now are offered unto Thee: incline Thine ears to us, who bow in penitence the knee. |
3 |
And grant that those things we have sought, as Thou hast, Lord, ordained, through Him who our redemption bought, may throughly be obtained. |
4 |
Thus shall Thy name be glorified, our needy souls relieved; to us Thy love be certified, e’en as we have believed. |
5 |
In Him through whom all prayer is made, all prayer that Thou wilt hear, hear us, O God, who now have prayed, and worship in Thy fear. |

Tune | Tallis' Ordinal Thomas Tallis (1505?-1585) |
Almighty God, who hast promised to hear the petitions of them that ask in thy Son's Name; we beseech thee mercifully to incline thine ears to us, that have made now our prayers and supplications unto thee; and grant, that those things which we have faithfully asked according to thy will, may effectually be obtained, to the relief of our necessity, and to the setting forth of thy glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
