Good Friday. (III)

O God of mercy, God of grace, dwelling within eternal light, in every word Thy love we trace; no man is hateful in thy sight. Thou willest not that sinners die; Thou speakest “Turn again and live;” Thou hearest every contrite sigh: to us Thy Holy Spirit give. Look on all nations of mankind: let each and all Thy mercy find! Bid all our ignorance depart; make all men fear Thy sacred word; alleviate each stony heart; and, we pray, shepherd’s care afford. Come home to fetch us to Thy flock, where all Thy scattered sheep may bide, lain safe beside the living Rock, within the fold by love made wide. Father, Son, Spirit, we adore One Triune God for evermore.

1 O God of mercy, God of grace,
dwelling within eternal light,
in every word Thy love we trace;
no man is hateful in thy sight.
Thou willest not that sinners die;
Thou speakest “Turn again and live;”
Thou hearest every contrite sigh:
to us Thy Holy Spirit give.
Look on all nations of mankind:
let each and all Thy mercy find!
2 Bid all our ignorance depart;
make all men fear Thy sacred word;
alleviate each stony heart;
and, we pray, shepherd’s care afford.
Come home to fetch us to Thy flock,
where all Thy scattered sheep may bide,
lain safe beside the living Rock,
within the fold by love made wide.
Father, Son, Spirit, we adore
One Triune God for evermore.

Good Friday. (III)

O merciful God, who hast made all men, and hatest nothing that thou hast made, nor wouldest the death of a sinner, but rather that he should be converted and live; have mercy upon all Jews, Turks, Infidels, and Heretics, and take from them all ignorance, hardness of heart, and contempt of thy Word; and so fetch them home, blessed Lord, to thy flock, that they may be saved among the remnant of the true Israelites, and be made one fold under one Shepherd, Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.
