Ave Regina caelorum
1 |
Hail, Queen of Heaven, beyond compare, to whom the angels homage pay; hail, Root of Jesse, Gate of light that opened for the world’s new Day. |
2 |
Rejoice, O Virgin unsurpassed, in whom our ransom was begun, for all thy loving children pray to Christ, our Savior and thy Son. |
3 |
O pray for us, our Queen on high; protect us from our hated foe; strengthen our souls to upward fly, and die to sin on earth below. |
4 |
Through God incarnate, Jesus Christ, the Son thou gav’st for all mankind, Who on the cross was sacrificed, and to His heart may our souls bind. |

Queen of the heavens, we hail thee, *
Hail thee, Lady of all the Angels;
Thou the dawn, the door of morning *
Whence the world’s true light is risen:
Joy to thee, O Virgin glorious, *
Beautiful beyond all other;
Hail and farewell, O most gracious, *
Intercede for us alway to Jesus.
℣ Vouchsafe that I may praise thee, O holy Virgin.
℟ Give me strength against thine enemies.
Let us pray: Grant us, O merciful God, protection in our weakness: that we who celebrate the memory of the holy Mother of God may, through the aid of her intercession, rise again from our sins. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
Hail, O Queen, on high enthroned, *
Hail, O Lady, by Angels owned:
Jesse's rod; yea, heaven's portal *
Whence hath shone earth's Light immortal:
Hail, O Virgin, most renowned, *
For thy grace and beauty crowned:
Hail, O truly worthy Maiden: *
Pray Christ for us so burden-laden.
℣ My praise by thee accepted be, O hallowed Virgin.
℟ Obtain for me strength against thine enemies.
Let us Pray. We beseech thee, O Lord, mercifully to assist our infirmity: that like as we do now commemorate blessed Mary Ever-Virgin, Mother of God; so by the help of her intercession we may die to our former sins and rise again to newness of life. Through the same Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord. Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.
