St. Barnabas the Apostle.

O Lord our God, we joy to trace the signs of Thy blest Spirit’s grace, unto Thy saints afforded; how unto every seeking heart distinctive powers Thou dost impart, as in Thy word recorded. What singular, what godly cheer, gav’st Thou unto Thy servant dear, the “Son of Consolation!” Thou graciously didst him endue, his spirit deeply didst imbue with joy in Thy salvation. Oh, with what loving glad acclaim, he hailed the triumphs of Thy Name, in souls Thy love confessing! As they obeyed with glad accord so praises for Thy grace he poured, Thy love his soul possessing. O Lord, our God, shall we be mute of thankful trust so destitute, no voice to speak thy praises? Remember all Thy love of old, the Spirit’s work so manifold: O send us gifts and graces. And grant us power in every need to glorify Thy Name indeed; hear Thou our suplication, that we Thy heavenly gifts may prize, and through our perfect sacrifice may work out our salvation.

St. Barnabas the Apostle.

O Lord God Almighty, who didst endue thy holy Apostle Barnabas with singular gifts of the Holy Ghost; leave us not, we beseech thee, destitute of thy manifold gifts, nor yet of grace to use them always to thy honor and glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
