St. James the Apostle.

As when Saint James once heard the call, he hastened to obey, leaving his father and his all, following without delay: leaving his father and his all, following without delay: Thy Blessed Son with trusting heart, waiting His holy will, such grace, great God, to us impart; with love our spirits fill: such grace, great God, to us impart; with love our spirits fill. All carnal thoughts may we forsake, all worldly fear and care, Thy holy will our pleasure make, our joy Christ’s path to share: Thy holy will our pleasure make, our joy Christ’s path to share. Our joy through life to follow Thee, and to obey Thy word; Thy true devoted servants we, through our redeeming Lord: Thy true devoted servants we, through our redeeming Lord. To Thee, most merciful and true, most holy, just, and pure, all glory to Thy name is due, and shall for aye endure: all glory to Thy name is due, and shall for aye endure.

1 As when Saint James once heard the call,
he hastened to obey,
leaving his father and his all,
following without delay:
leaving his father and his all,
following without delay:
2 Thy Blessed Son with trusting heart,
waiting His holy will,
such grace, great God, to us impart;
with love our spirits fill:
such grace, great God, to us impart;
with love our spirits fill.
3 All carnal thoughts may we forsake,
all worldly fear and care,
Thy holy will our pleasure make,
our joy Christ’s path to share:
Thy holy will our pleasure make,
our joy Christ’s path to share.
4 Our joy through life to follow Thee,
and to obey Thy word;
Thy true devoted servants we,
through our redeeming Lord:
Thy true devoted servants we,
through our redeeming Lord.
5 To Thee, most merciful and true,
most holy, just, and pure,
all glory to Thy name is due,
and shall for aye endure:
all glory to Thy name is due,
and shall for aye endure.

St. James the Apostle.

Grant, O merciful God, that as thine holy Apostle Saint James, leaving his father and all that he had, without delay was obedient unto the calling of thy Son Jesus Christ, and followed him; so we, forsaking all worldly and carnal affertions, may be evermore ready to follow thy holy commandments; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
