First Sunday in Advent.

O God, with hearts as in Thy sight, let us all evil cast away, and walk as children of the light, inheritors of endless day. Enable us to buckle on the armor of the Christian life, to battle till the war be won; O cheer and guide us in the strife. Deep in our hearts write His dear love, His wondrous great humility, Who left for us those courts above, most lowly babe on earth to be! Kindle, O Lord, these chilly hearts with wond’ring love, with thankful praise; Thy grace alone thy power imparts to Thee a thankful song to raise. O make us love and serve Thee now, that when His second Advent come, we in His righteousness may bow and wait to hear our welcome home. Eternal Father, Son most blessed, and Holy Spirit, Three in One: to Thee all worship be addressed, as was, and is, and shall be done.

First Sunday in Advent.

Almighty God, give us grace that we may cast away the works of darkness, and put upon us the armor of light, now in the time of this mortal life, in which thy Son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility; that in the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious Majesty to judge both the quick and dead, we may rise to the life immortal, through him who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, now and ever. Amen.
