The twenty-second Sunday after Trinity.

In humblest households here below various grades of service grow; one bond of good unites alway though some command and some obey; each serving in appointed round a minister of God is found. The Church, God’s household, is on earth, blest privilege of heavenly birth! O shine upon Thy household, Lord! Fulfil the promise of Thy word, that all its members aye may be vessels of holiness in Thee. The golden chain of household love links saints on earth with saints above; these, seeking ‘til their labors cease, those, praying in perpetual peace: their labors, search, and prayers are one, hasten the kingdom of Thy Son. Descend, O Lord! Thy household bless, Keep it in constant godliness; Protect, defend, and set it free, from danger and adversity: quicken to works, through Christ made meet, to lay before the Master’s feet.

The twenty-second Sunday after Trinity.

Lord, we beseech thee to keep thy household the Church in continual godliness; that through thy protection it may be free from all adversities, and devoutly given to serve thee in good works, to the glory of thy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
