The Purification of the Virgin Mary.

Thou Majesty Divine, before Thy Throne we bow; Almighty power is Thine; O hear Thy people now. Thy Holy Son most dear this day in ancient rite Thine Altar was brought near, presented in Thy sight. Presented and redeemed, with humblest off’ring paid; to mortal eyes He seemed but human infant made. Babe in His mother’s arms, the blessed Virgin meek, comes with no loud alarms: “the messenger ye seek.” Laid low in garb of flesh, in deep humility: Lord, cleanse our hearts afresh, this holy sight to see! Through Jesus Christ, Who came in all humility; praise we His holy name, Who fills eternity. Through Jesus Christ, Who came in all humility, praise we His holy name, Who fills eternity.

1 Thou Majesty Divine,
before Thy Throne we bow;
Almighty power is Thine;
O hear Thy people now.
2 Thy Holy Son most dear
this day in ancient rite
Thine Altar was brought near,
presented in Thy sight.
3 Presented and redeemed,
with humblest off’ring paid;
to mortal eyes He seemed
but human infant made.
4 Babe in His mother’s arms,
the blessed Virgin meek,
comes with no loud alarms:
“the messenger ye seek.”
5 Laid low in garb of flesh,
in deep humility:
Lord, cleanse our hearts afresh,
this holy sight to see!
6 Through Jesus Christ, Who came
in all humility;
praise we His holy name,
Who fills eternity.
7 Through Jesus Christ, Who came
in all humility,
praise we His holy name,
Who fills eternity.

The Purification of the Virgin Mary.

Almighty and everliving God, we humbly beseech thy Majesty, that, as thy only begotten Son was this day presented in the temple in substance of our flesh, so we may be presented unto thee with pure and clean hearts, by the same thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
