The ninth Sunday after Trinity.

O Lord, Who hearest every weary sigh: grant to our prayer the Spirit from on high to sanctify our thoughts, and guide aright our wills, our words, our weakness, and our might. Our strength is very weakness, but in Thee our utter weakness very strength can be; guard, govern, guide, be our Inspirer still; so may we live according to Thy will. So may we even glorify Thy name, if Thou our fierce and earthdrawn spirits tame! Our wills subject, our sinstained hearts subdue, the Spirit’s breathing making all things new. God, Who hast sanctified the gift of speech, so sanctify our hearts, we Thee beseech; to us Thy holy effluence afford; hear Thou our prayer, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

1 O Lord, Who hearest every weary sigh:
grant to our prayer the Spirit from on high
to sanctify our thoughts, and guide aright
our wills, our words, our weakness, and our might.
2 Our strength is very weakness, but in Thee
our utter weakness very strength can be;
guard, govern, guide, be our Inspirer still;
so may we live according to Thy will.
3 So may we even glorify Thy name,
if Thou our fierce and earthdrawn spirits tame!
Our wills subject, our sinstained hearts subdue,
the Spirit’s breathing making all things new.
4 God, Who hast sanctified the gift of speech,
so sanctify our hearts, we Thee beseech;
to us Thy holy effluence afford;
hear Thou our prayer, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

The ninth Sunday after Trinity.

Grant to us, Lord, we beseech thee, the spirit to think and do always such things as be rightful; that we, who cannot do anything that is good without thee, may by thee be enabled to live according to thy will; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
