St. Bartholomew the Apostle.

Almighty, Everlasting Lord, Who didst to Thine Apostle give grace to believe and preach Thy word, and in Thy service guileless live: So as Barthoomew believed, give grace unto Thy Church to love: thus be Thy word with joy recieved, and blessed with unction from above. To those whom Thou hast set apart, Thy holy word in truth to preach, give utterance to reach the heart, things “new and old,” with skill to teach: Bind Thy Church Catholic in one, to Thee to live, in Thee to die, and by the love of thy dear Son, Thy Holy Name to magnify. Praise Him for all His work of love, Church of the Lord, thou widespread host; give glory to our God above, to Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

1 Almighty, Everlasting Lord,
Who didst to Thine Apostle give
grace to believe and preach Thy word,
and in Thy service guileless live:
2 So as Barthoomew believed,
give grace unto Thy Church to love:
thus be Thy word with joy recieved,
and blessed with unction from above.
3 To those whom Thou hast set apart,
Thy holy word in truth to preach,
give utterance to reach the heart,
things “new and old,” with skill to teach:
4 Bind Thy Church Catholic in one,
to Thee to live, in Thee to die,
and by the love of thy dear Son,
Thy Holy Name to magnify.
5 Praise Him for all His work of love,
Church of the Lord, thou widespread host;
give glory to our God above,
to Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

St. Bartholomew the Apostle.

O Almighty and everlasting God, who didst give to thine Apostle Bartholomew grace truly to believe and to preach thy Word; grant, we beseech thee, unto thy Church, to love that Word which he believed, and both to preach and receive the same; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
